Minimalist city maps by Grafomap

March 28, 2017

City map posters have been popular home decor pieces for some years now. Its minimalist design easily fits in different interior styles and adds some personality to a space as there’s usually a story behind the city chosen for the poster.

When Grafomap kindly offered me a poster of my choice I knew it would be a perfect gift for a friend moving away from Estonia very soon. I chose the map of Tallinn which is currently her hometown so that she can put it up on the wall of her new home in San Francisco as a sweet reminder of her hometown, family and friends there.
You can search your favorite places by the name of the city or even by aadress, there are basically unlimited choices for custom design of the poster.

My latest interior project | Modern + vintage

March 24, 2017

Scandinavian apartment, modern mixed with vintage. Styling and photography Anu Tammiste

Today I’m happy to share with you one of my latest interior projects. It’s a small 42 sqm apartment in Tallinn, with high ceilings and large windows in a beautifully renovated house by Larsen Kinnisvara. Although small it feels airy and spacious thanks to high ceilings and large windows.

As the home owner already had some beautiful Scandinavian vintage pieces we decided to mix these with some new furniture to achieve modern look with a touch of midcentury feeling. Small spaces need some really good storage to be functional without feeling cluttered and therefore two large custom built-in wardrobes were planned for bedroom and entryway. Both of these cabinets and also bathroom furniture was custom made by Näpi Puit. The apartment has beautiful concrete ceilings which give the space character. To bring concrete also to the bathroom we chose concrete worktop with a sink custom made by Valukivi. Pale oak flooring and warm tones of vintage furniture pieces give the space some warmth. I found some really nice mustard yellow accessories from H&M Home which together with other monochrome details create welcoming feel to this little apartment.

This apartment will soon be available for rent, so if you need a small and nice place to stay in Tallinn, let me know :)

New sound absorbing cabinets by Norm Architects

March 22, 2017

Today a press kit from Norm Architects who is launching a new collection of sound absorbing cabinets for Zilenzio landed into my mailbox and I was instantly stunned by these beautiful photos taken in Kinfolk Gallery in Copenhagen. Tone cabinets have clean and minimalist look and they are designed to absorb certain frequencies of sound to make spaces acoustically pleasing. Stylish and practical way to tackle echo problems in homes and workspaces.

A few days ago this stylish beauty arrived to me – a brand new Classic Petite watch from Daniel Wellington. Love the minimalist and classic design of this timepiece and I’m sure it will be one of my wardrobe essentials for a long time. Mesh strap is really comfortable and it’s so easy to adjust the length to make it fit perfectly.

Dark gray kitchen with brass details

February 28, 2017

Charming dark grey kitchen with marble worktop and brass details. Although quite small and in darker color it doesn’t look too crowded, mainly because one wall in the kitchen has left blank without cabinets and it makes the overall look more airy. Wooden stools behind the breakfast bar add some texture and warmth and match perfectly with Wishbone chairs around small dining table near the kitchen nook. Small kitchen area done beautifully!

This incredible interior is a collaboration between Elle Decoration and stylist Pella Hedeby who decorated one apartment in ENSY Continental Apartments project. Different shades of grey and high quality materials together with authentic Danish design pieces from Erik Jorgensen, Montana, Georg Jensen Damask, Kay Boyjsen, Louis Poulsen and Kähler make it feel luxurious. Yet it has that lovely relaxed feeling characteristic to Pella’s stylings.

It’s not the first time an apartment decorated by talented Marie Ramse gets noticed here (previously shown here and here) and it’s no wonder as she relly knows how to mix and match materials and colors so that the result is balanced and sophisticated. This here is her latest project for Swedish real estate company JM. It’s an elegant premium apartment decorated in soft and neutral colors like sand and different shades of grey together with lighter and darker wood, limestone and steel. Perfect.

This artists loft in Berlin designed by Annabell Kutucu doubles as a home and also a creative studio. The apartment has actually really simple design, but it’s well exposed architectual features make it special: bare white painted brick wall, ceiling beams, extra high ceilings and wide and tall windows together with herringbone floor make it a dream space for a studio.

IKEA Spring news

IKEA Eket storage system with accessories

IKEA has released their news coming to sale in February and there are some things I’m particulary excited about, for example this flexible and minimalist looking Eket storage system seen above. To keep things organized and home clutter free some great storage is a must and often times it’s hard to find budget friendly options that would look stylish and that could be adjusted to ones needs. Shelves, cabinets and drawers can be combined in many ways to achieve the desired look. There seem to be also some great accessories available to organize smaller things on the shelves.

Two new kitchen designs will be also available starting from February – blond wood Askerud for lighter option and darker Kungsbacka designed by famous swedish design studio From Us With Love.

Lastly, new bedding frame from Nordli series will have drawers under the bed – perfect for smaller bedrooms in need for extra storage space. But what really caught me in this last picture is the deep dark green wall in combination with beige linen bedding!
